A native New Mexican, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from New Mexico State University. My emphasis of study was figurative sculpture in clay with a concentration on portraiture. I started my art career in Boulder, Colorado as a visual information specialist for the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Six years later I started my own design business. In addition to my private work, I continued to work for DOC as a freelance and contract artist in the capacity of exhibit designer and technical illustrator. In 1990, I returned to Albuquerque,New Mexico and opened the Aragon Sculpture Studio.
I focus on figurative bronze statuary for churches, commissioned bronze portraits, and two dimensional drawings and portraits in colored pencil. I teach "Modeling the Head in Clay," "Beginning Portrait Drawing," and "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" for the University of New Mexico (UNM) Division of Continuing Education. My studio hosts open sculpting sessions for the community in figurative sculpture.
